How to play
Plant your startup on America
Claim a state or launch a boat, fly your flag over it and put your site in front of everyone who visits the map. Anyone can outbid you, so hold the line.
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Pick your spot
Tap any of the 50 states or Washington, D.C., or hit “Launch a boat” and drop one anywhere on the water.
Show your site
Add your website, SaaS, app or social profile. It shows up with its real title and logo, and every visit it gets from the map is tagged utm_source=startups.earth.
Fly your flag
Pick the flag you represent: any country, the EU or the UN. It's draped over your state, or flies from your boat's mast.
51 states
Every state plus D.C. is its own spot. Alaska and Hawaii sit in insets off the West Coast, and the smallest states are labelled out in the Atlantic until you zoom in.
Boats at sea
A sailboat from $10, a yacht from $25 or a warship from $50, dropped wherever you like on the water. Sail in to invade (bow to the coast) or stand guard to defend America (bow out to sea).
Take it over
The highest bid holds a state or a boat. Beat it by the outbid step and it's yours: your site, your flag.
Squad, troops, tanks, F-16
The bigger the bid, the bigger the force you arrive with: a squad, 100 troops from $10, tanks from $25 and an F-16 from $100. Bigger forces plant bigger pins.
How you climb
- The highest bid holds first place in a state or on a boat, and its site is the one shown on the map.
- To take the lead, beat the leading bid by the outbid step: $1 while it's under $10, $5 under $100, $10 under $1,000 and $50 from there. The exact minimum is shown before you pay.
- A tie never takes the lead: the bid that got there first keeps it.
- If you're outbid, you stay on the leaderboard below the new bid: your listing doesn't disappear.
- Bids aren't refunded, including when you're outbid. To win a spot back, bid again.
- If another bid is confirmed just before yours and you miss first place right after paying, you can pay just the difference to take the lead, or ask for that payment back (you have 7 days to decide).
- If two bids are for the same amount, the one confirmed first ranks higher.
- Boats can't be dropped on land or right on top of another boat.
The leaderboards
- All time ranks every site by everything it has spent, across all its states and boats. Each link counts on its own: two YouTube channels are two different players.
- Today does the same with today's bids only.
- Countries shows which flag holds the most states. Tap a country to see its own ranking, where each site only counts what it bid under that flag.
Fair play
The goal is to get your site noticed; clicks, sales or followers aren't guaranteed. Don't use someone else's details without permission, misleading links, or content that's illegal, discriminatory or threatening. We may remove listings that break these rules.
